Arlo allows you to record a contact's preferred name where the person likes to be referred to using a name which is different than their real name. The following instructions describe how to enable and edit a contact's Preferred name, include it within a website registration form, and display it on a report.
Enable Preferred Name Field
Request that the Preferred name field be activated by Arlo Support (it is inactive by default).
Edit a Contact's Preferred Name
The following process describes how to edit a contact's preferred name.
- Open the contact you would like to edit.
- Press Edit.
- Click Preferred name.
- Enter the contact's preferred name.
- Press Save.
Note: The Preferred name will be displayed on the Home tab of the contact.
Add Preferred Name to Website Registration Form
Read how to customise your website registration form. If the Preferred name field has been enabled on your platform it will appear as an option when you Add a field to the form.
Include Preferred Name within Reports
- Open the report.
- Press Report Settings from the tool bar.
- In the Fields section, under Registration details, tick Preferred name.
- Press Run Report.
Hint: Save default report settings so that the Preferred name field is always displayed on the report. Alternatively, create a custom/favourite report with the required information.

You can search on a contact's preferred name in the Quick Search.
