Partial payments has been added to the development roadmap for this year.

We don't want students to be able to choose part payment options when enrolling online, but it would be used by staff in the office on a case-to-case basis.

It would be helpful to have as an option rather than to 'all'. We have a particular course (very costly) which would likely get a better take-up if it were offered online with a part payment.

I have several clients that would like to make part payment on credit card, we ask our students to pay $100 to hold their place and then the balance 5 days prior, our courses can get quite expensive as well.  We should be able to have to flexbility to have them pay with their credit card, or at least have the admin back end able to do that for them.   Can you look at this urgently please.

We would also like this feature to be able to be optionally applied in specific cases. Thanks.

What is the status of this? I see that the comment that it is added to the road map for "this year" was made 7 months ago. Can we expect to see it in Q1 2019?  It would be great if we could get an update because the work arounds for not being able to apply partial payments are really cumbersome!

Hi all, I understand you're really keen for this feature - us too! While we work away at it, please see the details of a workaround for you.

    Hi Emma,

This work around doesn't really help because there is no report that can total up all of of the payments (including partial payment) to reconcile to what was deposited in the bank.  Also, it messes up the reporting on how much a given program earned in revenue because it is essentially treating the negative payment line as a discount rather than a part of a payment.

As an example, a course costs $750 and I receive a $100 installment on the course.  So now the order shows a balance due of $650.  When I receive the 2nd payment of $650 on the course and mark as paid, it treats the overall income from that course as $650 when it's actually $750.  If I delete the line item that has the $100 installment when I receive the additional funds, then I lose the info I need to reconcile the fact that I deposited that $100 many weeks earlier and I lose the fact that it is in fact two separate payments.

Every major accounting software allows for partial payments against invoice for exactly this reason -- the income component is based on the Invoice amount and the payments just tell you how much of the income you have actually received into the bank vs how much is still due. But Payments don't change the overall revenue associated with an Invoice.

I have extensive accounting background and I am happy to help you design a process that will address this if you like.  Let me know!
