The following article describes how to use the Canadian time zone migration tool to review and update the time zones for your venues and events, and what to check if your website uses the Arlo WordPress plugin.
From Sunday 1 November 2026, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia will stay on their current summer time offsets all year instead of changing the clocks. Events you have scheduled in these areas may need a different time zone in Arlo.
Use the Canadian time zone migration tool to review and update the time zones for your platform, venues and events. You do not have to make decisions about all of your records at the same time. The tool keeps track of which records are still waiting for a decision and shows them until you act on them.
Nothing changes in your platform until you apply your choices in the last step of the tool.
If you have a lot of records to work through, start with the ones in use. For example, you can update the venues and events running in November first, then come back and complete the rest later. Venues linked to upcoming events have an In use tag, and you can use the event dates to prioritise.
If not updated, your records affected by the time zone changes will reflect incorrect schedule on the website from 1 November 2026.
The tool shows this location guidance, so you can check which time zone applies to each of your venues. Each of the new time zones keeps the same UTC offset all year.

The tool steps you through the changes so you can confirm them or make any necessary changes. Your choices build a proposed change plan, which you review in Step 5 before anything is applied.
To open the tool:
- Open the Settings menu item.
- In the Platform setup section, select Canadian time zone migration.
- When you are ready, press Let’s get started.
The first time you open the tool, you will see some information about the tool and the time zone changes.
The tool has six steps, shown in the progress bar at the top of the page. You can use the navigation at the top to return to a previous step at any time.
Confirm the default time zone for your platform and the accounting time zone. This is usually where your main office is, and it is used for accounting and invoicing. Your venues and events can use different time zones.
You can keep the current time zone or pick a different one from the list. If your time zone is not visible, select it from the dropdown at the bottom. When you are done, press Next: Venues.
The tool proposes a time zone for each venue based on its address. For each venue you can:
- use the proposed time zone
- keep the current time zone
- select a new time zone
- review it later
Venues linked to upcoming courses have an In use tag, so you can prioritise them.
Things to know about venue time zones:
- A venue supplies the default time zone for new schedules.
- Existing events must be reviewed separately in the next steps.
When you have made your choices for now, press Next: In-person events.
These events follow their venue’s time zone and are listed because their time zone no longer matches.
As with venues, the tool proposes a new time zone based on the time zone of the venue for each event or session. You can use the proposed time zone, keep the current time zone, select a new time zone, or review it later.
Some events may have no proposed time zone. In this case the reason is shown as Inconsistent venue. This happens when the venue’s original time zone is different from the course’s time zone. You can manage these in the same way, by keeping the current time zone, reviewing later, or selecting a new time zone.
When you have made as many decisions as you need to, press Next: Online events.
These events have no venue and follow the platform default time zone. This step has a bulk change option. If all of your events are in the same proposed time zone, press Use proposed time zone for all to apply it to all events in one click. You can also apply a time zone to all of them and then change just a few, which is useful if most of your events share the proposed time zone.
When you have made the changes you need, press Next: Review.
The review step shows all the records you have made a decision for and outlines the changes that will happen in the final step. Records you have not made a decision for, or have marked as Review later, are not displayed, which makes it easy to see exactly what will be applied.
If you want to change any choices, use the navigation at the top to go back to a previous step at any time. When you are happy that all the changes are correct, press Next: Who to notify.
Select who should be notified about the changes to your events:
- Presenters
- All registrants
- Support Staff
- Venue contacts
If you untick all of these, no one is notified.
When you have chosen who to notify, press Update X items followed by Confirm and update X items to make the changes. X is the number of records in your plan. You will see an Applying time zone changes message. This can take some time if you have a lot of records, and it continues in the background if you close the window.
Registrants receive an email reconfirming the event details with updated time zone information. It uses the same format as the regular Event details changed email.
The date and time of the event or session stay the same. The only difference is the time zone abbreviation, which lets them know the time zone has changed.
The email can include an updated ICS/iCal attachment so registrants can update any previous calendar appointment.
If your website uses the Arlo WordPress plugin, older plugin versions (4.x and 5.x) may show the wrong times for events in the updated time zones.
Download the updated plugin from the Arlo WordPress plugin download page, which also has the install steps.
The updated plugin also checks whether your web server’s time zone data is out of date. This is something the plugin cannot fix.
