Arlo allows you to sell optional extras, which your registrants can choose from when registering for your courses. You can apply a price to the items, add a description which will be displayed on your registration form, and set a maximum number of available units (in case of having limited stock).
Some potential use cases for optional extras are:
- To sell products as an add-on to a course registration, for example, textbooks relevant to the course.
- To sell tickets to a course, e.g an awards night, where you may or may not need to capture attendee details
You can arrange the order of the options available on your registration form by price, or have them in alphabetical order (both either ascending or descending). To request changes to the way your options are displayed on your courses, contact Arlo Support.
You can quickly make a copy of a course with optional extras using the schedule another functionality.
Example of a checkout showing an option where the registrant can enter the number of items they want to purchase (input field) and an option where the registrant is limited to one item (checkbox)
Optional extras are not supported on online activities.

- Select New Course.
- Choose the type of course you wish to create, and the course's schedule type.
- Navigate to the Schedule tab.
- From the Options section, click + Add option.
- Enter the details of the option, e.g. Name, description, purchase settings, price, tax status, and units available.
Once the maximum units are allocated, registrants will no longer be able to purchase the optional extra.

- Complete the remaining steps in the course wizard.
Arlo allows you to sell tickets to a course by allowing registrants to pay for individual tickets or a table of tickets. Use this option if you do not need to know who is attending the course.
If you are selling tickets using optional extras you will have limited reporting capabilities on the course (as there are no registrants being added for each ticket purchased, but instead an item being sold). You won't be able to record and report on attendance or grades for options, like you would for standard registrations.
- Open the Courses menu item.
- Select New Course.
- Choose the type of course you wish to create, and the courses schedule type.
- Navigate to the Schedule tab.
- From the Options section, click + Add option.
- Add an option to your course for Additional Tickets.
- Price your tickets, add the maximum units available, and ensure registrants can buy more than one.
You should limit the number of tickets available to purchase, as registration limits are not factored in when selling tickets using options.
- Proceed to the Registrations tab.
- From the Website registration form section, select a Custom registration form.
- Edit the labels of the registrant details fields to make it clear that you only require the registration contact's details e.g. change Email to Registrant Contact Email.
- Complete the remaining steps in the course wizard.

You can view and report on options sold either for a single course or for multiple courses.
When viewing option information on a single course, you can view and report on each optional extra separately. You can see which registrant has purchased each item, the status of their order, and the number of each optional extra they have purchased.
- Open the Courses menu item.
- Find and select the course you wish to view and report optional extras for.
- Select the Options tab.
- Select the optional extra you wish to report on.
- The details of the options purchased will be displayed for each registrant.
- To export the information, press the export arrow and select Export what I see (CSV).
If you would like to view optional extras purchased for multiple courses, you can report on options using the Registration list (Advanced) report by adding the Options count and Options summary fields to the report.
- The Options count field outputs the total count of the options the registrant has selected.
- The Options summary field outputs a summary of the options the registrant has chosen. The quantity of each option chosen is included in brackets after the relevant option.
The information in these fields does not include cancelled options.
