Arlo's core function is managing online registrations for your courses. From taking online registrations to transferring, recording attendance and grades, through to reporting, Arlo automates processes to make your job easier.
Many of the processes outlined within this section will refer to other features that use registration information, and these will link through to other articles that provide more information.
Quick registration
The quick registration method is primarily for use with free and private courses and gives your end users a simple, single page form to complete in order make their registration.
No order or invoice is created and course instructions are automatically sent when a person registers for the course.
Order process
The order process registration method is primarily for use with paid courses where your registrant are expected to make a payment in order to secure their registration on the course.
This registration method offers a full website shopping cart experience which can be configured to accept multiple payment methods and discounts.
Users can register one or many people onto the course, with course instructions sent to registrants only once an order has been approved.
Custom URL
The Custom URL registration method is used to promote a course on your website when registrations are managed externally from Arlo, for example, when you are promoting a partner course.
When an end user clicks on the register button on the course page, they are redirected to an alternative website based on the URL you specify in your course set up.
You cannot use a mailto link in this registration method as it is not a URL.
You can close website registrations and change the message to show the email address instead.
Customise your registration and waiting list forms
In Arlo, you can capture information related to contacts and registrations in the registration and waiting forms, which is then saved against the relevant record in the platform. These fields are able to be included in many of the Arlo reports, making it easy to view the information you need.
Contact fields added to your forms are useful for capturing contact information that does not change regularly, e.g. an emergency contact number or date of birth. Alternatively, the registration fields are useful for capturing information related to a specific registration, e.g. the response to a question such as Have you completed this course before?.

Waiting lists
Arlo includes an automated waiting list feature that allows people to register on a waiting list from the website when a course is full. The waiting list form is customisable so you can add any fields that would be required.
If a place becomes available, Arlo will automatically notify the first person on the waiting list. If they do not register for the course within a specified time, the next person on the list will be notified, and so on.
Arlo can also send out a notification to administrators to say that somebody has joined the waiting list.

Special requirements (dietary, disability)
Arlo has specifically created system fields in order to allow you to record special dietary or disability requirements for your registrants. These fields are available in reports and are able to be viewed on a separate tab on each course, allowing you to quickly and easily see how many registrants require special arrangements.

Professional development points and hours
You can enable and assign professional development (PD) points and hours to individual courses and course templates and Arlo keeps a record of the number of points and hours accumulated by each contact who has completed those courses. This information can then be included on certificates to attendees.
The total PD points a contact has earned (from completed courses) is displayed on the contact's home page.
