If your course has multiple sessions, you can mark attendance separately on each individual session so you can see exactly which parts of a course a registrant has attended. The following article outlines how to record and report on attendance for courses that have multiple sessions.
If your course does not have separate sessions, learn how to record and report on basic course attendance instead.
- Open the Courses menu item.
- Find and open the course you need to mark attendance on.
- Select the Sessions tab.
- Select the Session Name you wish to mark attendance for.
- Tick the checkbox for the registrants you wish to mark attendance for.
- Press Actions and select Mark as attended or Mark as not attended.
- Repeat the above instructions for any other sessions on the course you would like to mark attendance for.
When viewing an individual registration within a course, you will be able to see for which sessions they have been marked attended or not attended in the Registration sessions section.
You can report on session attendance for a single course using the session attendance export.
This export provides the count of attended and not attended sessions for each registrant, including their total attendance percentage for the course overall so that you can make a decision as to whether or not you want to mark them as attended or not attended on the overall course.
- Open the Courses menu item.
- Find and open the course you need to mark attendance on.
- Select the Registrations tab.
- Select the Session attendance view.
- Session attendance information will be displayed.
- Press Export and select Export list.
There are a number of options you can use to report on session attendance across multiple courses. The option you choose would depend on the information you want to see.
Registration list report
To report on session attendance across multiple courses and see the registrants' names and the session names, you should use the Registration list report.
- Open the Reports menu item.
- Select the Registrations List report.
- Ensure the following criteria are selected.
- Ensure that the Session name and Attendance fields are selected to be included in the output.
You can select other outputs you have marked on session registrations as well.
- Group the report by Event, and Sort by Session Name.
- Run or Export the report as required.
Below is an example of the report output showing attendance marked on individual sessions. In this example, the registrant has attended two of the sessions but has no attendance recorded for the remaining two sessions or the overall course.
Registration list (Advanced) report
If you want to see the name of the registrant but a count of the number of attended/not attended sessions is suitable (i.e. you don't need to see the specific session names), you can use the Registration List (Advanced) report. This report includes columns to show some basic information related to the course sessions.
