The following article describes the homepage functionality within the Arlo website and how to edit the content within it. The Arlo website's homepage is a part of the Arlo website where you can showcase your events and activities through widgets such as upcoming events, featured event, and link sections. You can add text to each area, and have a different footer from the other pages.
- Open the Settings menu.
- From the Website section, select Arlo Website.
- Select the Homepage tab.
Note: If your website settings page does not look like this, your platform is not using the Arlo website option. Find out which website option you are using.
- Follow the relevant instructions below to make the required changes.
The homepage is enabled by default.
- Tick or untick Enable homepage.
- Press Save changes.
The following settings change the styles for the main content section of the homepage. You can format widget content separately.
The heading text is compulsory plain text, but you may leave the summary and/or tagline text blank. The heading text will show in front of any background images or colours.
- If you haven't already, enable your homepage.
- In the First section, add or remove the Heading, Summary, and Tagline text.
- Press Save changes.
- From the Heading and content alignment drop-down, select where you want the first section content to be displayed.
- From the Space above text and Space below text drop-downs, select the spacing above and/or below the content in the first section.
Note: This increases or decreases the height of the first section.
- From the Heading font and Heading weight drop-downs, select the font and font weight you would like.
The background and text colours will default to the colours set in your general settings. The following instructions describe how to select different colours for the first section's content.
- From the Colours section, click the colour you wish to change.
- Choose the colour or enter the colour code.
- Press Save changes.
The following instructions describe how to reset the colour scheme for the first section to the main colours selected in the general settings.
- From the Colours section, find the colour you wish to revert, e.g. Background.
- Click Revert.
- Press Save changes.
As the heading is compulsory, you cannot have an image instead of the heading text. This is a background only. You should also select a heading colour that is legible with the image.
The background image will fill the whole first section area. The feature image will sit above the heading, summary, and tagline text.

- From the Images section, Background image, click Add.
- Press Select file to upload...
- Select the file from your computer.
- Specify whether you would like to Show menu above image or Show menu over image.
- Specify the Sizing that works best for the image size.
- Press Save changes.
The feature image will show above the heading, tagline, and summary text.
- From the Images section, Feature image, click Add.
- Press Select file to upload.
- Select the file from your computer.
- Press Save changes.
- From the Images section, underneath your image, click Delete.
Widgets are content sections for your home page. They each have a different purpose and can be displayed as you wish. For example, you can choose to show a featured event at the top of the page, underneath the first section.
- From the Widgets section's Inactive list, hover on the widget you want to activate and click Enable.
- Press Save changes.
You'll need to add content to each widget.
- From the Widgets section's Active list, hover on the widget you want to disable and click Disable.
- Press Save changes.
The following instructions describe how to change the order that your widgets display on your Arlo website.
- Click and hold the widget you wish to move.
- Drag the widget to the correct place in the list.
- Press Save changes.
Example: Upcoming events widget
To add or edit content to the upcoming events widget:
- If you haven't already, enable the Upcoming events widget.
- From the Widgets section's Active list, hover on the Upcoming events widget and click Edit.
- Enter the General information as required.
Note: The heading is required.
- If required, edit the colours for this widget.
Note: By default, the colours will be the same as in your Arlo website general settings (not the homepage first section colours).
- Choose your Upcoming events settings.
If you want to be able to use the Hero and List images on your website the Use layout with images field must be ticked.
- Press Save and close.
- Make any other necessary changes to your website settings.
- Press Save changes.
Example: Feature event widget
To add content to or edit content on the feature event widget:
- If you haven't already, enable the Feature event widget.
- From the Widgets section's Active list, hover on the Feature event widget and click Edit.
- Enter the General information as required.
The heading is required.
- If required, edit the colours for this widget.
Note: By default, the colours will be the same as in your Arlo website general settings (not the homepage first section colours).
- Select the event template you wish to feature.
- Press Save and close.
- Make any other necessary changes to your website settings.
- Press Save changes.
Example: Link section widget
To add or edit content to the link section widget:
- If you haven't already, enable the Link section widget.
- From the Widgets section's Active list, hover on the Link section widget and click Edit.
- Enter the General information as required.
The heading is required.
- If required, edit the colours for this widget.
By default, the colours will be the same as in your Arlo website general settings (not the homepage first section colours).
- Select the text size and alignment for your links.
- Click Add new link.
- Select the category or add the website URL address you wish to link to.
- Add the Label (required), Summary and Image as necessary. For example, you may want an image that links to somewhere else, like a button to another category page.
- Repeat the steps (from Add new link) to add more links as necessary.
- Press Save and close.
- Make any other necessary changes to your website settings.
- Press Save changes.
- Select the category or add the website URL address you wish to link to.
- Add the Label (required), Summary and Image as necessary. For example, you may want an image that links to somewhere else, like a button to another category page.
Example: Search widget
- If you haven't already, enable the Search widget.
- From the Widgets section's Active list, hover on the Search widget and click Edit.
- Enter the General information as required.
The heading is required.
- If required, edit the colours for this widget.
By default, the colours will be the same as in your Arlo website general settings (not the homepage first section colours).
- Enter the text you wish to show when the search box is empty.
- Press Save and close.
- Make any other necessary changes to your website settings.
- Press Save changes.
