This support article only applies to the Arlo website. If you are using a different website integration, please contact the Support team for more information on how to set up tracking with your specific website integration method.
The HTML tag is embedded on the homepage thus the homepage will need to be turned on at least temporarily in the website settings to verify ownership with Google.
If you want to use Google Search Console with your Arlo Website, you will need to first verify your ownership of the site. You can do this by adding a <meta> tag to the HTML of your Arlo Website's homepage by using the Google Site Verification setting.
- Open the Settings menu item.
- From the Website section, select Arlo website.
- Select the Tracking codes tab.
- Hover over the Google option and select Enable.
- Press Edit.
- Turn the Google Site Verification on.
- To get your verification code, go to Google Search Console.
- Enter your Arlo Website's URL in the URL prefix option and press Continue.
- In the Other verification methods section, select the HTML tag option.
- Copy the verification code from the data provided. The data will follow the structure of:
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="{VERIFICATION-CODE}" />
As an example, for data which shows <meta name="google-site-verification" content="2NjrHlDNme2bP4cR4gngliIl3UBmgutthjEH2J75PTc" />, the verification code is 2NjrHlDNme2bP4cR4gngliIl3UBmgutthjEH2J75PTc.
- Enter your Verification Code.
- Press Save.
The global site tag (gtag.js) is a JavaScript tagging framework and API that allows you to send event data to Google Ads, Campaign Manager, Display & Video 360, Search Ads 360. Instead of having to manage multiple tags for different products, you can use gtag.js and more easily benefit from the latest tracking features and integrations as they become available.
As per Google support documentation, if you currently use Tag Manager, you should continue to do so. Google Ads and Google Marketing Platform tags are fully supported by Tag Manager, and there is no need to deploy additional gtag.js-based code on your site if Tag Manager is already in use. Learn more about considerations before enabling the Global site tag.
- If you will be using Global Site Tag, turn this setting on.
- Enabling the Global Site Tag will enable and configure the 'gtag' command in the script snippet in the head of your website. Learn more about Google's gtag feature.
- If you are not enabling the Global Site Tag (because you already utilize Google's Tag Manager feature) then you should turn on the Enable Google Tag Manager setting and insert your tracking ID of the GA account to which the Tag manager is configured to.
- Cross domain tracking needs to be set up in GA4 - https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/10071811
The DoubleClick Cookie setting enables Remarketing with Google Analytics, a third-party DoubleClick cookie is embedded in the script snippet in the head of your website, and this is used to enable remarketing for products like Google Ads. When this feature is used, information (including the third-party DoubleClick cookie) is similarly sent to the Analytics servers.
- Enable the DoubleClick cookie by ticking the option in the Google settings.
You will not have access to this setting if you are using the Global Site Tag feature.
